Meet the Executive Board steering Kinrise
George Aberdeen
George is focused on investment management, operations and asset management at Kinrise. George has worked in UK commercial real estate for 20 years, starting his career in institutional fund management before establishing Kinrise in 2015.
He is also President of Field Lane charity, which has been helping vulnerable people since 1841.
Samuel Lawson Johnston
Samuel is focused on investment strategy, innovation and design at Kinrise. He has worked in UK commercial real estate for 20 years, with former roles as an Investment Director and Partner at Cording Real Estate Group (now Edmond De Rothschild Real Estate). He is also a trustee of Charity:Water and Saint Church (Hackney), and co-founded eyewear brand Finlay London.
Derek Green
Derek Green is the Assistant VP of Investments for HL Investments, the outside investment arm for the Green Family and Hobby Lobby. His responsibilities include oversight and ongoing deployment of a global investment portfolio. Previously, Derek worked for Hobby Lobby as a Real Estate Analyst, where he developed site selection and sales forecasting tools.
Scott McLain
Scott McLain has served as Chief Investment Officer for HL Investments, the investment arm for the Green Family and Hobby Lobby since May 2014. He previously served as President and Chief Strategy Officer of Sonic Corp, parent company of the nation’s largest chain of drive-in restaurants. During his 17-year career at Sonic, he held various positions including Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer, and President of Sonic Industries.

Michael W. Cook
Michael Cook is the Founder, CEO, and Co-CIO of SouthernSun Asset Management, Inc. (1989). Michael serves on the Advisory Council of the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis, Memphis, Tennessee, and the boards of Cave Pictures Publishing, Omeq Medical and Thriving Cities Group, He is also an Associate Fellow and member of the Principal’s Circle at Green Templeton College, University of Oxford and co-founder of Blackbay Global Advisory.
Peter Doyle
Peter Doyle served as CFO and Head of the Family Office at The Grosvenor Estate until 2018. Prior to that Peter worked at KPMG, including 16 years as a partner in the London office and latterly as Head of Financial Services. Peter is a Governor at Eltham College, a Trustee at Wycliffe Hall Oxford and chairs the Black Stork Charity, formed to build the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre. He serves as a member of the Audit Committee at the University of Cambridge. Peter serves on the advisory board of Kinrise.
Dr. Mary Johnstone-Louis
Dr. Mary Johnstone-Louis is Director of the Ownership Project and a Senior Research Fellow at Said Business School, University of Oxford. Mary researches, teaches, and builds programmes on how business leaders design strategy around areas of public good. Her current focus is on how ownership influences impact and sustainability. She is Head Tutor for Oxford’s Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme a World Economic Forum Global Future Council Fellow and Chair of the Board of B Lab UK.
Simon Pillar
Simon is a Founder and Managing Director of Pacific Equity Partners (PEP), the largest private equity manager in Australia and New Zealand. PEP’s business comprises buyout, value-added infrastructure and structured credit funds. Simon chairs the firm’s Executive and Operating Committees. Prior to PEP, Simon was a partner with Bain & Company in Singapore and Sydney. Simon also previously worked in the USA with Goldman Sachs and consulting firm The LEK Partnership.
Ilaria Chan
Ilaria is currently the Group Advisor to Grab (Southeast Asia's most valuable technology company), focusing on advancing diplomacy, thought leadership and social impact reach. Prior to this role, she served as a Corporate Finance executive and helped drive Grab's $5 billion Series H fundraise - the largest in the history of Southeast Asia. Ilaria was formerly an Executive Director at the Sales & Trading division of Goldman Sachs New York, focusing on Asia Equities.
Reuben Coulter
Reuben Coulter is Partner at Ignis Global, Senior Advisor to Faith Driven Investor and a Senior Fellow at Belmont University. Prior to this, he was CEO of Transformational Business Network, a global impact investment network, and Associate Director for Africa at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. He has served as a trustee of Bristol City Funds, a place-based impact fund and was Chair of the Irish Humanitarian Committee.
Matthew Stephens
Matt Stephens is a recognised authority in employee engagement and experience, dedicated to helping organisations create workplaces where people thrive.As Founder of Inpulse, Matt built and scaled an engagement platform that helps some of the world's leading organisations improve their employee experience.
